The Adventures of The Caleb

I am THE Caleb. The last one you'll ever want to know...

I will not follow you just because you follow me. If you do not like that then move on.

Let us not talk about anything too serious... I don't want to mess it up for you.

I live in a house that is over a hundred years old in Kansas City, MO.

I write, A LOT, but you will only see bits and pieces.

I LOVE plants and books. My "office" at home is filled with both.

Most of the time I'm moodier than any woman

As much as I try to fight it I will be the ruler of the Universe... Sorry, but it's going to happen.

I am a dreamer and often feel more comfortable in my own mind.

My heroes and the people I look up to are the imaginative creatures in my head.

Lastly I am looking for penpals. If you want to be mine send me an e-mail and I'll send you my address.

Agreed. Frozen veggies are canned fruit are really cheap, and depending on the season, the fresh stuff is as well. Meat can be surprisingly cheap if you pay attention to what’s on sale. When I used to manage the group home, I spent only $200 a week on groceries to feed 6 people breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Every meal was varied (fish, meat, chicken, etc) and had a mixture of protein, grains, veggies, fruit, and dessert. One of my clients was on a low-cal diet and another on a high-cal diet and I was able to feed them both accordingly. I also bought snacks. If you divide $200 into 7 days, and divide that by 6 people, you only get about $4.75 per person per day. TO EAT THREE MEALS AND SNACKS AND DRINKS. Waaaaaaay cheaper than fast food. Also, delicious!
So yeah, it is definitely possible.

THE “fact” that junk food is cheaper than real food has become a reflexive part of how we explain why so many Americans are overweight, particularly those with lower incomes. I frequently read confident statements like, “when a bag of chips is cheaper than a head of broccoli …” or “it’s more affordable to feed a family of four at McDonald’s than to cook a healthy meal for them at home.”
That’s just plain wrong, though.
